The Christian Education and Nurture Mission Unit is responsible for educational programs that assist the churches of the presbytery through providing consultation, training events, workshops, and seminars for teachers and other Christian Education leaders. The Unit fosters faith development and growth in the Reformed tradition for children, youth, and adults; plans and implements educational programs for personal spiritual development; and provides a resource system that benefits educational ministries within presbytery’s churches. The Chair, or a representative designated by the Unit, serves on the Coordinating Council.
The responsibilities of this Unit include:
|
o Providing educational opportunities that promote the development of leaders in
the presbytery, including support for the S.T.E.P program (Skills in Teaching
and Educational Practice), Faith Matters, church officer training, and in-depth
adult education;
o Promoting Christian Education in presbytery’s churches, assisting them with
their needs in all areas of Christian nurture;
o Maintaining and supporting a Youth Task Force to provide a ministry program
for youth and the adult leaders of youth, including providing resources for the
training and support of local church youth leaders;
o Planning, promoting and carrying out the presbytery’s Camp and Conference
program at the NaCoMe Camp and Conference Center, as well as recruiting
and training the directors and counselors of these programs;
o Managing, maintaining, promoting and evaluating a Resource Center of books,
media and other materials housed in The Presbyterian Center that is available for use by churches and individuals;
o Planning and providing programs directed at personal spiritual development
and enrichment.
